Convert a text-based PDF to a DOCX file for editing in Word.

PDF → DOCX

How it works

01

Choose your PDF

Add one PDF up to 25 MB and 500 pages. Enter its password if needed.

02

Convert to Word

Select “Convert to Word” to create your DOCX file. There are no layout settings in this tool.

03

Review the DOCX

Download the Word file and compare its text, tables and page layout with the PDF.

Before you use the result

Compare the DOCX with your PDF, especially tables, columns, fonts and line breaks. Scanned pages do not become editable text: this tool does not include OCR.

If processing fails

Check that the PDF opens in a PDF reader and that you have entered its password if needed. If conversion fails again, try a smaller file. NuBox does not recognise text in scanned pages with OCR.

How your files are handled

No account is required. Your files are processed on the NuBox server, and access to the result is restricted to your browser session. Input files are deleted when processing finishes; the result is deleted after the server sends your download. Undownloaded results and leftover temporary files are removed by cleanup every five minutes once they are older than 30 minutes. Keep your originals.

Questions and answers

Can I turn a scanned PDF into editable text?

No. NuBox does not include optical character recognition (OCR). A scan is an image of a page, so its text will not become editable in Word.

Why does the Word layout differ from the PDF?

The converter rebuilds the document from PDF content. Tables, columns and line breaks may need correction in Word. Compare the DOCX with the original before editing or sharing it.
