Compress PDF

Try to reduce the size of a PDF for email or upload. Some files may not get smaller.

How it works

01

Choose your PDF

Add one PDF up to 25 MB and 500 pages. Keep your original for comparison.

02

Choose a mode

Start with Balanced for sharing, or select another mode. Enter the PDF password if needed and select “Compress PDF”.

03

Compare the result

Download the PDF and compare file size, scanned text and image detail with the original.

Before you use the result

Compression can reduce image detail, especially in scans and photos. A text-heavy or already compressed PDF may stay the same size or grow. Compare file size and readability with the original before sharing.

If processing fails

Check the PDF password if needed. If processing fails, try a smaller source document. If it succeeds but does not reduce size, try another mode or keep the original.

How your files are handled

No account is required. Your files are processed on the NuBox server, and access to the result is restricted to your browser session. Input files are deleted when processing finishes; the result is deleted after the server sends your download. Undownloaded results and leftover temporary files are removed by cleanup every five minutes once they are older than 30 minutes. Keep your originals.

Questions and answers

Why is the output larger than my original?

Some PDFs are already efficiently compressed. Processing may change the file’s structure without making it smaller. Compare both files and keep the original if it suits your needs better.

Can I choose an exact size, such as 1 MB?

No. Choose a compression mode, then check the downloaded file size. The result depends on the PDF’s content.

Which mode should I try first?

Start with Balanced, the default. If the file is still too large, try Strong compression and check scanned text and images. Try Print or High quality when image detail matters more.
